First Examples Running on Imagination's New Open-Source GPU Driver

In October 2025 Imagination released a fully functional, open-source Vulkan user-mode driver for our GPUs as part of Mesa 25.3. Since then, we've had some engineers put the upstreamed code through its paces using the Sascha Willems examples shown in this video.

So far this driver has passed Vulkan 1.0 conformance for IMG AXE and IMG BXS GPUs; next steps include performance optimisations, securing Vulkan 1.2 conformance, and extending the driver to include more GPUs and APIs. Watch this space!
