## IMG DXT GPU: A Game-Changer for Gaming Smartphones

Gaming smartphones have become increasingly popular, offering users the ability to enjoy high-quality gaming experiences while on the go.  

To put this growth into context, in 2024, the global games market, including mobile and other platforms, generated more than $187.7 billion in revenue, growing by 2.1% year-over-year according to [The Global Games Market Reports 2024](https://newzoo.com/resources/blog/global-games-market-revenue-estimates-and-forecasts-in-2024). Mobile games accounted for 49% of this revenue, amounting to $92 billion. 

The market is projected to continue growing, with mobile gaming revenue expected to reach $126.06 billion by 2025. This growth is driven by the increasing adoption of smartphones and the rising popularity of mobile games among users worldwide.  

In a recent significant move within the gaming industry, [Scopely announced its acquisition of Niantic’s games business](https://www.polygon.com/pokemon-go/541768/scopely-niantic-interview-michael-steranka), including the globally popular game Pokémon GO, for a staggering $3.5 billion. This acquisition is expected to trigger a wave of M&A activity within the sector, as companies strive to enhance their portfolios and expand their reach in the competitive gaming market.

- **Better Battery Life**: Through [Fragment Shading Rate (FSR)](https://blog.imaginationtech.com/ray-tracing-and-fragment-shading-rate-fsr-in-img-dxt-a-match-made-in-heaven) and micro-architectural improvements, the IMG DXT helps preserve battery life, allowing users to enjoy longer gaming sessions without worrying about power consumption
